Job Description
A Mechanic 11 Technician will support the Engineering Team to efficiently maintain all hotel operations such that safety, security, conversation, and compliance are ensured at the highest levels. As Mechanic II/Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all mechanical, plumbing, and life safety systems within a large hotel and convention facility. This role supports guest comfort, event operations, and overall building functionality while adhering to safety standards, operational procedures, and collective agreement requirements. Schedule flexibility is required, including the ability to work day, afternoon, and overnight shifts, as well as weekends and holidays, based on operational needs. Operate, monitor, and maintain major building systems including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, domestic water systems, and high-rise plumbing. - Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs. - Respond promptly to service calls, alarms, and emergency situations. - Support hotel and convention operations to meet guest and event demands. - Assist with contractor coordination, equipment shutdowns, and system start-ups. - Maintain logs, inspection records, and maintenance documentation. - Ensure compliance with codes, safety standards, and hotel policies. Basic knowledge of fire alarm and sprinkler systems. - Understanding of fire pumps, emergency response protocols, and impairment procedures. - Knowledge of fire exits, egress paths, and fire watch requirements. - Participate in life safety inspections and emergency response activities. Basic to intermediate knowledge of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, and high-rise plumbing systems. - Ability to perform inspections, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance. - Ability to read basic drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals. - Strong communication skills and a team-oriented, guest-focused approach. - Ability to work throughout a large, high-rise hotel and convention facility. - Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and access mechanical rooms. - Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment as required. A Mechanic II/Technician serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. A certificate in a specialized field such as Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, Carpentry, or Plumbing, required. Current working knowledge of general maintenance and engineering work. Experience in the Maintenance Department of a large hotel, hospital, ship, and/or restaurant complex or similar. A passion for delivering great customer service. Ability to work without close supervision and within established timeframes. Strong work ethic.
